Stories start at 7:00 pm

We will be sharing information here about our Spooky Stories for the "Spooky Story Night"  at Parkville Nature Sanctuary.
We're (committee) excited about the event this year.  We hope to have more structure concerning scheduling the program.  Also, we hope to have more audience participation, and drama, even music?!
Please share any ideas you have.
I would like to get the group of story tellers together for a planning
session.  Let me know what you are thinking about this.

  Spooky Story Performance notes:

Individuals or small groups will read scary stories, perform spooky skits, or provide musical entertainment for the guests.

Each performance should be short.  Three to five minutes is about the longest you're going to hold young children's attentions, and our target audience includes children of all ages, including preschool and grade school ages.  Five 3 minute stories would be much better than one 15 minute story.  In past years we have noticed families leave early because some of the stories  were too long or otherwise didn't hold the younger kids' attention. We don't want any family to leave the event disappointed.

Scheduling of performances should take target ages into account with entertainment suitable for the youngest audience members planned first.

Finding good stories has been said to be the hardest part of doing the entertainment.  Stories may be original or from any source that's available, keeping in mind that they must be appropriate for the younger children in the audience.  If you would like to select and submit stories for someone else to read, that would be a great help as well.  Stories that have been told at this event in previous years or are otherwise familiar to the audience are acceptable.

Costumes for the entertainers are very much appreciated.  Costumes need not have relevance to the stories told.  Dress up as a witch and tell stories about ghosts, who cares?  Props should be minimal.  It will be dark and sometimes it's hard to find your stuff when you need it.
