Family Ghost Story Night is our most popular event, fulfilling both fund raising and community outreach functions.    We always have a need for more volunteers, so if you or your group are interested, please read the following before contacting us.  If at all possible, we'd love to see volunteers at our regularly scheduled committee meetings.  well in advance of the production date.

What It Is.  If you are not familiar with the event, we start with a hot dog and chili dinner beginning at 6:00 pm on the Friday before Halloween.  The dinner is served in the grassy area near the permanent picnic tables, directly below the parking lots at City Hall.  After eating, the guests proceed to the shelter that we call the "Girl Scout Cabin"  where volunteer amateur performers in costume tell spooky stories.

The hike to the shelter can be via one of two routes.  One is directly to the shelter with minimal spookiness involved, although the trail is lit with jack-o-lanterns.  The other route wends through the woods and meadow, where the "Haunted Trail" will be decorated with spooky stuff and people in costume to scare, startle, or otherwise entertain the guests as they walk by.  <shiver>  Ooooo, it's so spooooo-keey.
