There are many clues to the riddle of wildlife that live in the Nature Sanctuary. One such clue is "scat" or animal feces. Through these clues we have confirmed the presence of many wildlife inhabitants in the nature sanctuary to include beaver, deer, fox, raccoons, rabbits, numerous species of birds, and most recently coyote. Other clues to wildlife inhabitants are footprints, fur, feathers, bones, antlers, nests, entrances to dens and lodges, deer wallows (matted grasses), deer rubs, owl pellets, dams, tunnels and remains of meals eaten by wildlife. One of my favorite things to do when hiking through the woods is to look for these clues and visualize the animals. This is what I will be doing during the community hike on Saturday, February 27th at 10 a.m.. Come and learn how to solve the mystery of these clues yourself.
