  Volunteering at Parkville Nature Sanctuary
  By Amber S. Ray, Editor

The Parkville Nature Sanctuary volunteers are a composite of individuals from all walks of life in the community.  We all share the common goal of preserving and maintaining the natural green space of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary.  We are preserving this "green space" for many reasons, one of which is for the citizens of Parkville and their enjoyment.  Below, some of our volunteers share why they are a Parkville Nature Sanctuary volunteer:

Phyllis Burrell - "I enjoy the Halloween activity.  Cooking hotdogs and serving drinks to all that came to hear the ghost story telling."

Dale Buhl, Parkville Nature Sanctuary Committee Chairman - "My wife and I enjoy being involved in committees that serve the community.  The City of Parkville is to be commended for preserving this green space.  It's a great treasure and the preservation of wildlife is important."

Erwin Carney - "I enjoy working with some of the greatest people in the community who share my love of nature."

Charlotte Rausch - "I enjoy working and talking along with friends to develop the Nature Sanctuary trails."

Amber Ray - "I volunteered to be the editor of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary Newsletter to promote volunteerism and generate interest in the community."

John Tew - "I enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the product of your work through volunteering with Parkville Nature Sanctuary."

Dave House - "I enjoy the satisfaction of getting things done and what can be done by donating my time.  It gives you a good feeling doing something productive for the citizens of Parkville."

Walt Chrisman - "I enjoy the woodsy atmosphere and walking on the trails and I want to do my part to make sure it's maintained well."

Lloyd Colberg - "I just enjoy being involved in the committee."

Tootie Valette - "I enjoy walking and I like the idea of a nature sanctuary in Parkville and that sparked my interest in the Parkville Nature Sanctuary committee."

Jim Reed, Parkville Nature Sanctuary Director - "I enjoy seeing people freely give of themselves to make our community a more livable place.  Volunteers are the very core of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary's existence."

There are many reasons to be a volunteer, but the main reason we participate is to preserve the natural beauty of the nature sanctuary.  Please help us protect and maintain this great Parkville treasure!
